You Just Can’t Fool Google

An example of Google AdSense

Firstly what do I mean by “Can You Fool Google Adsense?”

Basically can you click on your own ads on your blog/site and get paid for them?

The quick and easy answer – No.

Think about it, first off it’s Google, you can’t fool Google, they just know absolutely everything about you and everyone in the world. Somehow Google are watching all of us and know every single little thing we do, it’s like some form of dark magic!

And secondly, do you think Google would go giving away money so freely? You might be able to fool smaller ad networks, but not Google.

So how do Google know if you click on your own ads? Well it’s a combination of the below factors:

IP Address

This basically is your computers address, it’s linked to your adsense account, and if Google sees an ad was clicked by the same IP address as the adsense account, it’s obviously you.

Cookies

Ok so change your IP address, well Google still has cookies on your machine so they know it’s you.

Other Google Services

Do you use Gmail? Google search, Google Toolbar, Google Talk, Google Calendar etc….? Well Google can easily trace back any clicks to any of these accounts and they’ll know it’s you

Your Click Patterns

1. Isn’t it weird the way this certain IP address only ever clicks on ads for this particular website? Ye Google knows it’s you

2. This person came directly onto this site from the direct URL or a bookmark, and went straight to the ads…. Ye Google knows it’s you

3. It’s weird the way the come to the site, click on an ad an leave without ever checking out the sites content….. Ye Google knows it’s you

Geo-Location

Google can trace down your IP address and traffic down to nearly the street it originated from. So if Google sees all the clicks coming from the same area, they know….

Search Engine Ranking

Ok this site has a Pagerank of 1, and get’s about 10 hits a day, but somehow they nearly all click on the ads…… Once again Google knows it’s you…..

I know I’ll put a click here button on the ads to make people click on them…….eh hello this is Google, they can figure out what any words on a page mean!

At this stage I would just advise you to give up on trying to trick Google because you just cant do it. There’s a reason why Google is worth nearly $160 Billion, so good luck trying to trick them

Don’t mess with Google, or Google will mess you up, any suspicious activity with your adsense account will see your account flagged, revenue removed and a possible ban on your account.

If you’re the brave one, take this into consideration – You can play with Google, but you can’t win!

Have you ever tried fooling Google and have succeeded or lost?

Goodbye Internet? Save It Now!

I was sleeping, when my friend calls me up. I heard something like, “no more net”. I was sleeping right, so I was like I must be hearing wrong. So I was like what are you saying. “NO MORE INTERNET”.

As per today’s The Telegraph “Knowhow”, millions of people around the world may lose access to the Internet this week.

This is briefing you about what will happen, and I have also collected all resources possible to help you prevent Internet loss.

Come March 8, the Internet could stop working for millions of users because of a virus, DNS Changer, which has corrupted millions of computers in more than 100 countries.

Though the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has shut down the rogue DNSChanger network and put up surrogate servers following a US court order, it has the mandate to run the temporary network only till March 8. Unless the FBI obtains a fresh order, the network will be turned off, resulting in millions of computers worldwide no longer having Internet access.

What is DNS? DNS stands for Domain Name System. It is an Internet service that converts user-friendly domain names into the numerical Internet protocol (IP) addresses that computers use to talk to each other. DNS and DNS Servers are a critical component of your computer’s operating environment. Without them, you would not be able to access websites, send e-mails or use any other Internet service.

When you enter a domain name, such as www.abc.com, in your web browser’s address bar, your computer contacts DNS servers to determine the site’s IP address. Your computer then uses this IP address to connect to the website. DNS servers are operated by your Internet service provider (ISP) and are included in your computer’s network configuration.

What is DNSChanger? A small file about 1.5 kilobytes, DNSChanger is a Trojan that changes the infected system’s DNS settings, in order to divert traffic to unsolicited and potentially illegal sites. This Trojan is designed to change the “NameServer” Registry key value to a custom IP address, which is usually encrypted in the body of the Trojan. By controlling DNS, a criminal can get an unsuspecting user to connect to a fraudulent website or interfere with that user’s online web browsing.”

Check if your computer is infected:

In Windows 7 by going to the Start menu, typing Run and then cmd. At the command prompt, enter: ipconfig /all. Look for the entry that reads “DNS Servers……….”The DNS numbers are in the format of nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn, where nnn is a number from 0 to 255. Make note of the IP addresses for the DNS servers and compare them to the table of known rogue DNS servers.

If you are using a Mac, click on the Apple symbol in the top left corner and choose System Preferences, then Network and click on the Advanced button. Choose the DNS tab on top to show the DNS servers you are using.

There is a special website to check if your ISP’s DNS requests are made to the right places: http://www.dns-ok.de. This site will tell you if you are affected by the DNS Changer malware or not.

What will happen after March 8? According to the FBI, it will shut down the surrogate DNS servers over a period of four months, affecting millions of users who are still using rogue DNS addresses. If your PC is infected by rouge DNS, you can use Avira DNSRepair tool. Download it from: here.

Who Is A Celebrity?

Who is a celebrity, a very difficult question. Nobody really knows the meaning.

Wikipedia defines it as: A celebrity, also referred to as a celeb in popular culture, is a person who has a prominent profile and commands a great degree of public fascination and influence in day-to-day media. The term is synonymous with wealth (commonly denoted as a person with fame and fortune), implied with great popular appeal, prominence in a particular field, and is easily recognized by the general public.

Who I think they are:
A person who does hard work, gets noticed, takes the dough, gets fat and doesn’t do anything else. The term is synonymous to Paranola (Paranoid people) who feel the world is ‘attacking them’ all the time and critics are being unjust by criticizing them.

Credit going where its deserved, the people whom we refer to as celebrities have done something good in whatever profession they have chosen, as a sportsman, as an actor, as a comedian, or probably even as a politician now. They are good at what they do and that’s why they are a celebrity.
But the problem lies here – “the people whom we refer to as celebrities have done something good in whatever profession they have chosen“; and not ‘have done something good in life’.

Don’t misunderstand me. There is a small subtle difference.

Have you seen Spiderman? Haha. Or have you at least heard that famous dialogue somebody now and then keeps repeating?
“With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility”

I wonder how many such “Celebs” have heard about it. I won’t take names and start pointing out, but all of you must be knowing many such instances when celebrities act irresponsibly, and use their celebrity status to get away with it. And sometimes even blame it on us!
“Just cause we’re a celebrity….” Bla bla.

A real life example from the city I live in:
There’s a friend of mine. He’s not that wealthy, say lower middle class if I was to categorize. He and his dad are great movie buffs! They try to see most of the movies in the theatre, otherwise they get ‘em on DVD or something. A new movie was releasing, and my friends dad wanted to take my friend for a preview. These previews are those shows which take place a day before the release at night, and its just one show.

He collected enough money for his family of five and he left to buy the tickets.

Now this is what happened: a man who struggles and works hard 24X7X52X365 stands in the queue, while a celebrity walks in and cuts the line to the front and buys all remaining seats.

Oh, and that celebrity had nothing to do with the movie. He was alone, and bought a row or two I think so that he could sit “alone without disturbance”. Its all true.

Anyways, coming back to the point. Who these demigods are.

Oops, my bad.. Who these celebrities are.

Oops, my bad.. Who these rich people are.

I think its the truth, no matter what you say. If you have money, you can buy it. I’m not talking about “love” and all here. Let’s face it, everything materialistic is pretty significant in life.

To live, they say, you need:

    air
    water
    food
    shelter
    clothing

And everything else is a luxury.
Can’t we put a price on everything?
Water, money; food, money; shelter, money; clothing, money… And who knows, soon we might need to pay for unpolluted clean air too.

They are lucky they can afford all this, while many can’t.
Not that I’m blaming them, mind you.

There are many celebrites who work for human welfare and other causes which I respect. But there are many who don’t, too.

I don’t even know why I wrote all this. My thoughts are a bit complicated, and I probably haven’t explained them simply enough here. But still, thank you for reading! And I’d be happy if you too could share your views with me via your comments here. :)

Internet and the Neglected Teenager

When a child is born and opens its eyes, its first glance generally of the mother, followed by a huge smile of the father. When the child is three years old, the father teaches him to walk, and the mother teaches him to talk. When the child is nine, the father drops him to school, and the mother awaits eagerly for his return at home.
When the child reaches his teens, the father is at a meeting, and the mother is busy, or probably at a meeting too.

The times have changed, and priorities too. Before, a home was the temple, and now a teen is more often lonely at home. The common saying that a child will always remain a child for his/her parents forever isn’t false one bit. They need nurturing till they’re at an age when they are self dependent and sometimes even after that age.

What is a teenager suppose to do when he is neglected? He isn’t given emotional support, isn’t being taught valuable lessons in life which only parents could teach, and neither is he being shown the right path, nor is he shown the difference between right or wrong! He has no other option but to turn to the internet to fill this void space in life.

The internet has grown unbelievably in the past few years. While it took the television 13 years to reach 50 million viewers, it took the internet barely 4 yrs to reach 50 million users. Although the users vary from different age groups, statistics have shown that major sites like Youtube consist of 60% users who are under the age of 20. That teenagers are addicted to social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter is known to all.

Teenagers that are neglected often turn to the internet for support, sometimes even browse websites they aren’t suppose to and have their small moments of variable bliss of sorts. If the teenagers are then “spoilt”, the parents shift their blame to the internet and call it the root of all evil. A debatable topic in its own sense, however, most questions can be answered if the most basic and simple question is answered first – why is the child affected by this evil, or why is he exposed to this so called evil?

I personally feel that parental neglect should be considered a crime, but unfortunately it isn’t given the significance or awareness of one. Teenagers that are neglected and rely on the internet face a variety of problems, long term and short term, physical and mental. Too much exposure could be bad for the eyes and a strain on the mind, internet could be addictive, suicidal tendency, and perhaps the teenager could start neglecting other important aspects of life like studies and school which are far more significant than the internet… All this because of him/her being ignored by his/her parents.

There isn’t even any such solution to this, except spreading awareness, counseling lessons for parents and teenagers and stressing on importance of necessary attention.
